How To Start Affiliate Marketing in 2022 [Step by Step Guide]

How To Start Affiliate Marketing

We are in an age where we can do or we can get anything we want from home. We can get our food by ordering them with only a click. We can get our choice of full dress from a huge collection of the dress. We can do these things with our smartphones.

All these things happen because of our short time. We are so much busy with our work that’s why we order all things online. It’s made our life so much easier than before. In all these things something happens so good for some people or some group of people and actually, these groups of people made our life so easier. This great group of people made a platform like Amazon.

Now, you can ask what is amazon.

I’m here to tell you about this amazon. My main focus will be on Amazon Affiliate Marketing. I will try my best to tell you about Amazon Affiliate Marketing from a to z in a very simple way. I will tell you here what is amazon affiliate marketing.

How can anyone be an amazon affiliate marketer?

How can be possible to make real money online or earn money online?

I will tell you all about this step by step.
What is Amazon?
Amazon is an online marketplace where you can find all sorts of products you want to buy. As like we want to buy some people want to sell their products. In all of that, there is too much competition amazon got from other marketplaces like eBay and so on. Everyone wants to sell as much as they can and wants to get profit as much as they can.
We are all human beings and we all have almost the same attraction to money. Everyone wants to earn money without working hard. They want to get everything by sitting at their home. They want to earn money online by lying on their bed. I’m not different from others😪.
What is amazon affiliate marketing?
Amazon just listen to us and made a great way to earn money online by sitting at our bed. Amazon started a way called affiliation or Affiliate Marketing. I think you can get the meaning of this by its name.
Affiliate marketing means we promote other products and we get some percentage of every product that has been sold by our promotion.
And that is called this amazon affiliate marketing.
Pretty Simple, Right?
Let’s go step by step.

  1. Join for Amazon affiliate program.
  2. Search for a product name and get the product link by which the merchant can track you.
  3. Promote the product.
  4. If your link gets clicked and get buy from the link you get the commission. • How does Amazon Affiliate Program work?
When you sign up for the amazon affiliate program, Amazon gives you a unique id or shop id to track you like your-name-69
When you will create a link for promotion your tracking id will be in the link or you can simply add this tracking id to any Amazon Product URL to create an affiliate link.
    For Example:

amazon.com/glass/67hiuyU9j

amazon.com/glass/67hiuyU9j?tag=your-name-69

When someone clicks on your link and is redirected to the amazon website or amazon app and if they buy anything within 24 hours then you will be paid some commission for that product.
The fun fact about amazon affiliates is that if someone doesn’t buy the product you recommend. If you send them for video game and they buy a t-shirt you will get the commission of the t-shirt. Again if they buy some other products you will get a commission for all of them.
That is why amazon affiliate marketing is so fun and easy and most popular for this. Now, Let’s get ready to be an Amazon Affiliate Marketer.

Here’s How to Start Affiliate Marketing on Your Blog in 8 Steps.

Step 1: Choose a Good Niche

Have you ever heard something like ‘The Wirecuttuer‘?
This is the most popular affiliate website ever owned by The New York Times. It has reviewed almost everything from hair color to shoes and got 3.9 million estimated views from Google alone.
Many newcomers in affiliate marketing see sites like these and try to replicate them.
Don’t ever do this type of mistake.
Big sites like Wirecutter have a huge team of SEO. Trying to compete with them will be a great loss nothing else.
Instead, you need to find a niche where you can dominate.

A. Find something you are interested in

It’s the most common reason that most newcomer fails to make their career in affiliate marketing. If you choose a niche that doesn’t concern you or you do not get interested then it is possible to lose track. So keep your niche in the list of your interest.
(Here) you can find a huge list of niches that could be interesting for you.

B. Commission Rates

Amazon’s commission rates vary by product category.

Here’s the current structure:

Product Category Commissions:

  • Luxury Beauty, Amazon Coins – 10.00%
  • Digital Music, Physical Music, Handmade, Digital Videos – 5.00%
  • Physical Books, Kitchen, Automotive – 4.50%
  • Amazon Fire Tablet Devices, Amazon Kindle Devices, Amazon Fashion Women’s, Men’s & Kids Private Label, Apparel, Amazon Cloud Cam Devices, Fire TV Edition Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV Devices, Amazon Echo Devices, Ring Devices, Watches, Jewelry, Luggage, Shoes, and Handbags & Accessories – 4.00%
  • All Other Categories – 4.00%
  • Toys, Furniture, Home, Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden, Pets Products, Pantry, Headphones, Beauty, Musical Instruments, Business & Industrial Supplies, Outdoors, Tools, Sports, Baby Products – 3.00%
  • PC, PC Components, DVD & Blu-Ray – 2.50%
  • Televisions, Digital Video Games – 2.00%
  • Amazon Fresh, Physical Video Games & Video Game Consoles, Grocery, Health & Personal Care – 1.00%
  • Gift Cards; Wireless Service Plans; Alcoholic Beverages; Digital Kindle Products purchased as a subscription; Food prepared and delivered from a restaurant; Amazon Appstore, Prime Now, Amazon Pay Places, or Prime Wardrobe Purchases – 0.00%
  • Check out your rate as per your niche. If it is from 0% categories I would say just cross the niche from your list. If it is 2% or lesser I won’t suggest that also but it can give you a huge visitor that can be a good income for google AdSense.

C. Check Product Price

Normally the higher price of products the higher rate of commission.
But the expensive product does not get sold as much as lower will be sold.
Again if your production rate is much lesser then your cut will suffer. So try to keep your product between 30$-350$.

D. Estimate Traffic requirements.

If you choose a niche and you are getting sales of every click but you are not getting the estimated traffic then there’s no point in marketing on that niche. How can you know how much traffic you need?
You can calculate with this.
Monthly goal / (Avg. product price * category commission % * average affiliate link CTR * average conversion rate)

Here the monthly goal is how much you want to earn every month.

E. Estimate Traffic Potential

What does it mean? It means your niche has enough search on google. If it does not enough search on google then how can your site get your estimated traffic? You will get many tools online for searching results per month or year by keyword for free on the internet.

F. Estimate Competition

There’s no point to get into a niche where you will not get enough traffic as per your goal.
So choose a niche that has lesser competition and a higher rate of search.
And of course, choose a niche that does not need to do SEO because SEO is a big game.

Step 2: Create a Website A Blog or A Facebook page

There are several ways to market your affiliate products. The best easiest way is Facebook page marketing and having a website or blog. I’m not going through about creating of Facebook page. But you can check (here) on how to create a Facebook page for affiliate marketing.
But I’m going to tell you about a blog or website shortly. For a better understanding of how to create a blog or website, you can check it (here)
The best and most efficient way of affiliate marketing is having a website or blog.
There are many reasons for making a blog.
With a blog, you can establish a brand that can give you better results in the future.
Beyond all this, you can monetize with Google AdSense.
Most successful affiliate marketers did their charm with a blog that contains informative content and product reviews.

How to create a Blog
We will not discuss in detail here about making a blog. But you can find out (here) in detail, how to create a blog.
You will need three things to create a blog

  1. Domain.
  2. Hosting.
  3. WordPress Theme.

Let us see what sorts of work you have to do in every step.

Domain: It’s your website or blog address by which everyone can search or find you online. If your site’s name is Raze then your domain will be www.raze.com(if it is available). A domain does not cost much you have to pay around 10$ or more for a year.

Hosting: The whole information of your database is stored here. And your websites or blog run using this space by your hosting providers. It starts at 3$ per month and there is a higher price that will depend on the company you choose or the package you need.

WordPress Theme: Necessarily it does not have to be a WordPress theme if you can create your theme by HTML code. But most bloggers use WordPress themes because of their reliable tools. It can help you for saving huge time and boost your efficiency. You should consider yourself starting your blog with this. Having said that, a plethora of WordPress themes are available to buy and get free, as well.

In a word, first, buy a domain and then hosting or you can buy both of them from one place. Install WordPress in your cPanel, and log in to your dashboard.

Next, get a WordPress theme and customize it to give your site the perfect look. Your site is ready to take off. It’s time to start publishing content.

Step 3: Research Keywords in Your Niche.

Do you ever search for anything on google or any other search engine?

Like coffee or the best coffee machine, I think you have then I think you have had an idea of what is keyword. Yeah right, your guess is right coffee is a keyword and this is a short keyword and best coffee machine is a long keyword. You have to have a good idea about keywords if you want to get visitors to your site. Every search engines use keywords for their user to give them the most relevant result.

The first thing you have to do after you have found your niche is found your target keyword. If you have a large number of visitors already but it’s never late to work on keywords and get more visitors.
You can use tools like Google Keyword Planner or Ahrefs to find suitable keywords for your website or blog. You can use them for your content URL or site URL. You can also use them on your content so that your visitors come to your doorstep and increase your sales.
For much more details you can see (here).

Step 4: Sign Up for the Amazon Affiliate Program

Here’s how to get started.

Go to https://affiliate-program.amazon.com

amazon associates

They will ask you to enter basic information including:

Your name
Home address
Your URL(s) where you’ll be promoting Amazon products
Then they will want you to fill out a bit more information about what you plan to sell for your profile. You can see some of the questions they ask here:

amazon associates profile

Answer these as best you can. If you aren’t sure, just give your best guess. These aren’t set in stone and you can always go back in and tweak what your answers are later on.

Once you get through this part, you’ll be asked to provide a phone number to get a pin that you’ll use to verify your identity. So make sure you sign up while you have your phone handy.

Amazon partner program

Agree to the terms and conditions (make sure you read them too), and you’re good to go.

The last step is to fill in your Tax ID or social security number plus your bank information so you can get your payments. You can do this right now or wait until later whatever you prefer.

Now that you have your affiliate link set, you can start promoting products

Step 5: Find products for affiliate programs

When I decide to go for a promotion of a product I ask myself some question
• Do I use this product or used them?
• Will my vast majority of reader get benefit from these products?
• Is it easy to buy?
• Is there a good commission rate(not always)
If my answer is yes for all of them then I go on Amazon and search for the products for an affiliate.

Make a list of products that your readers will be benefited from by using them and always try to think of as many as you can.
And this can be additional or related products to the blog.
For example, if you are reviewing a smartphone you can also suggest an earphone or a back cover, or a power bank.

For a huge description of products go (here).

Step 6: Create content in the form of tutorials, review posts, resource pages, or emails, and use your affiliate link

You can create content about your review in various forms such as creating video content and posting it on YouTube. Nowadays YouTube is a vast medium for promotion. You can get millions of views that can help you to increase your sales and get more commission and more earnings.

Therefore you can monetize your videos by Google AdSense which can push your earnings further.

There is another way to review like posting your review as content in your blog. You can write there about the products for each attribute of it. You can write there about advantages of the products with disadvantages.
You can also write in your post as like comparison with other products that will be helpful for your readers to choose the best one. That would be so helpful for your sale. And you also can have a position for your video to show. This will be like after reading the post they see them visually that will effect on your readers and you can get more sell.

There are other ways to affiliate marketing like email marketing but I won’t suggest them for beginners.

Step 7: Optimize the page and track your rankings on Google

Google always try to show the best result for their visitors. So it’s necessary to give a good reason to Google for showing your page or site on the first page. So it is important to have a great look in SEO for your site. If you want to show your site on top of the result you must have to have nice keywords it can be long keywords. Your keywords should be in the first paragraph of the post in the middle and the last part of it.

You should keep your keywords in the title or URL.

Besides them, your site has to be fast so that visitors do not leave your site for loading.
Google always focuses on backlinks. Now, this is a new word I won’t say much about this here but you can check more brief description (here). Backlink means when someone comes to your site from another site that’s called backlinks.
And the last thing is quality full content has more and more power from above all of them.
More Details will be here on SEO or Optimize the page and track your rankings in Google.

Step 8: Rinse and Repeat

Congratulations!

Are you surprised? Are you thinking, why have I congratulated you?
Because if you have gone through all of the 7 steps then surely you are now an affiliate marketer. That is the reason I congratulate you.

Now I think you have already created your site, chosen your niche wisely, researched keywords, and chosen a product.
Then you can think about what should you do now. I will suggest you go through these steps again I meant keywords and product and then SEO for your new products to choose and promote.

Lastly, I want to say thanks to you for being with me. Be patient for success. Success is not so easy to come to your doorstep. You have to work hard for your success. Keep creating good content if the Almighty is with you then you will be rewarded by success.
